Kicking Horse River rapids

Cliff Kolber

The Kicking Horse River is a glacial-fed river near Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, Canada.

The waters in the Canadian Rockies are multi-colored.  This particular milky green look in the Kicking Horse River is caused by glacial milt, a powdery substance created from the grinding of glaciers against the mountains and rocks over millions of years, and then released as the glacier melts.
