Anhinga in breeding phase

Cliff Kolber

The Anhinga is a comedian bird!  They will flip a freshly caught fish in the air many times before finally swallowing it. The Anhinga's is nicknamed the "Snake Bird" since it's body is submerged when swimming and only it's head and long, sleek neck are visible above the water.  The blue eye ring is indicative of the female in breeding phase.
